MURAKA-MAY
In May 2025, I gave myself the challenge to illustrate one of Haruki Murakami’s short stories each day for the entire month. Many I had read before, but a lot were new to me as well. I love the works of Haruki Murakami. The surreal dreamlike situations combined with grounded and matter-of-fact characters give his stories a relatability that straight forward nonfiction often fails to give. Personal favourites of mine are ‘The Little Green Monster’, ‘The Elephant Vanishes’, ‘Cream’, Super Frog Saves Tokyo’ and ‘Samsa In Love’.
These are not meant to be prospective covers or inside illustrations for any of his stories, they are more like visual impressions. My first thoughts made into an image right as I finished reading the story.
