MIKES' STATION (2024)
Mike Shanto was born in 1944 and since he was five years old he has stayed in Blair Atholl all his life. A small village nestled on the edge of the Cairngorms, Mike brings it to life in his own voice, telling 80 years worth of stories in 10 vignettes. From his fathers work as a Canadian forester to his schoolboy misadventures on the train itself.
As part of this project, me and Mike went to Blair Atholl Primary School to give talks. Mike extrapolated a little more on the specifics of his life and answered questions, while I gave a presentation on the animation process behind the shorts and gave a class on making simple animated flip books. The children especially likes the animation cels I brought, showing them up close how animation used to be made.
