STANLEY HILL TREE TRAIL (2022)
Right next to Dunkeld Community Archive is Stanley Hill. An unassuming place, it is the site of Jacobite battles and a medieval fort. In the winter when the leaves are gone, if offers a grand view over the whole of Dunkeld.
In 2022 I was tasked to bring to life the various species of trees which live on and around Stanley Hill. They would come to life and tell fun facts about themselves. We didn’t stick to just native Scottish trees, but the Canadian Western Red Cedar and the Argentinian Monkey Puzzle. Who we were able to have voiced by people from both those countries, adding a bit of needed authenticity.
Me and the manager of the archive came up with an extensive lore about the trees. That they were nature spirits brought to earth by a comet who took possession of the trees, and who were in a constant battle against King Rot, the personification of unnatural decay. But it never ended up being used.
